Welcome to NetMaps!
Base Maps Versus Live Maps
The Cowlitz County NetMaps website contains a combination
of two different types
of maps – base maps and live maps.
Base Maps
A base map is just what it implies – a map that acts as a
base for all other maps.
On the Cowlitz County NetMaps website there are two base
maps available -- Aerial
and Road.
You can toggle between these two maps by moving your
cursor over the globe icon
on the banner in the upper left corner and selecting
either Aerial or Road from
the drop down menu.
Note: Only one
base map may be active at any given time.

Live Maps
Live maps are maps available to you that contain
localized data and sit on top of a base map.
These local or “live” maps can be accessed from the “Live
Maps” widget displayed in the
upper right corner of the web page.
In the example above, there are three live maps that are
available.
Each of the live maps can be expanded to show the
individual layers available on
each map.
For example, the “County Base Layers” map contains
parcels, streets, sections and
townships.
To expand the live map selection, hover your mouse over
the specific map and click the
grey arrow to the left of the map name.
