How to Turn Maps and Layers On and Off
Once of the great benefits in today’s world of digital
maps is the ability to display
the specific information you require.
To that end, the Cowlitz County NetMaps website provides
the tools that allow you to
choose which maps you want to see as well as to choose
the individual layers in each map.
Depending on the link that you used to access the Cowlitz
County NetMaps website, some Live
maps may be defaulted on while others may, by default, be
turned off.
The first place to look to identify which maps are turned
on or off is the Live Maps widget in the
upper right corner of the web page.

In this particular example, there are three “live” maps
available. Two of them (County Base
Layers and Political/Administrative Districts) are
already turned on. The Sales map is
currently
turned off which means the information will not be displayed.
To turn on or off any of the maps, simply click the
checkbox located next to the map name.
Layers
Typically, digital maps are comprised of a number of
layers that represent different groups
of elements on a map.
For example, the County Base Layers map is comprised of a Parcel layer,
a Streets layer, a Section layer and a Township layer.
To view available layers in each individual map, click
the grey arrow next to the map. To hide
the
list of map layers, simply click the grey arrow again.
