MiscellaneousAbout the February 2, 1999 Election Who: Only 3 jurisdictions are involved • Toutle Lake School District (Silver Lake and Toutle precincts) • Vader School District (Ryderwood) • Fire District No. 7 (Yale precinct) which includes all of Cougar, Amboy residences in Cowlitz, and some Ariel addresses. How: The vote will be at the polls for all jurisdictions. Only those requesting absentee ballots will receive them. Ryderwood is an vote -by -mail precinct. All voters in Ryderwood will receive their ballots in the mail. Where are the polls: Toutle Lake School, 5050 Spirit Lake Hwy., Toutle and Yale Elementary School, 11842 Lewis River Rd., Ariel. When: 7:00 am until 8:00 pm, February 2, 1999 at the polls. What are the Issues: • Toutle Lake School is asking for a 3 -year School Maintenance & Operation Levy starting at $650,000 in 2000 and ending in 2002 with $700,000. A second levy over 3 years for modernizing and enhancing existing technology programs begins in 2000 at $50,000 and remains the same for all three years. • Vader School Districtt is asking for a 2 -year Maintenance & Operation Levy starting in the year 2000 at $158,000 and ending in 2001 at $158,000. • Fire Protection District 7 is requesting authorization to exceed the 106% levy limitation so that a levy of $1.00 per thousand can be assessed in 1999. Absentee Ballots Sent: 1,413 absentee ballots were mailed January 13, 1999 in the afternoon. We anticipate that all ballots will be delivered by January 23, 1999. Absentee Returns: Absentee ballots must be postmarked no later than February 2, 1999 in order to be counted. The voter can drop signed absentee ballots at the polls but only the polls at Toutle Lake School and Yale Elementary School will be open. No other polls will be open! Not Received Ballot: If a voter has not received their ballot by January 23, (or close to that date) please transfer them to Elections or take their name, address, and telephone number so that we can verify if they are on the absentee list.
