precincts within the boundaries of the City of Woodland in Cowlitz County, Washington, will be
closed for original registration of voters and for transfer of registrations from one precinct to another
precinct within Cowlitz County, after the 16th day of April, 2005, said day being thirty (30) days
prior to Tuesday, May 17, 2005, which is the date set for the May 2005 Special Election in Cowlitz
County. Saturday, April 16, 2005 is the last day that voters residing within the boundaries of
Cowlitz County will be permitted to register or transfer prior to said Special Election.

April 27, 2005 -
The May 17, 2005, Special Election,
on behalf of the City of Woodland,
will be conducted as a vote by mail
election. Ballots for the May 17,
2005, Special Election will be mailed
beginning April 27, 2005.
Voters requesting ballots for the May
17, 2005, Special Election, may do so
by calling the Elections Department
at (360) 577 -3005 during normal
business hours.
If voters within the City of
Woodland have not received their
ballots by Friday, May 6, 2005, they
should contact the Cowlitz County
Auditor's office by calling (360) 577-
3005 during business hours and
request a replacement ballot.
No polling locations will be open. A
vote by mail drop site will be
available only on Election Day, May
17, 2005 at Save -On- Foods, 1325
Lewis River Road, Woodland,
between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and
8:00 p.m.
BALLOTS OPENED

Designees of the Cowlitz County
Canvassing Board will begin opening
mail in ballots from the May 17,
2005, Special Election, on May 17,
2005, at 12:00 noon. The Opening
Board will meet on the 3rd floor in
the General Meeting Room of the
County Administration Building, 207
Fourth Avenue North, Kelso. The
public is welcome to view the
process, but is requested to first
check in with the Elections
Department, Room 200, 2 °d floor of
the County Administration Building,
for security purposes.
All ballots opened by the Opening
Board are stored for tabulation until
after 8:00 p.m. on May 17, 2005.
Tabulation of the voted ballots begins
after 8:00 p.m. Election Day.
Opening of valid ballots received
after 11:00 a.m. Election Day will be
opened May 20.

The Cowlitz County Elections
Department, along with
representatives of each major
political party, shall meet in the
General Meeting Room, County
Administration Building, at 8:00
p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2005, to
begin the tabulation of voted ballots
cast at the May 17, 2005, Special
Election.
Election results will be posted no
earlier than 8:30 p.m. Election night
due to the manual tabulation of the
ballots.
Posting of results will be at the
Auditor's Office and on the Election
Department's web site at:

Post - Election Day updates of
unofficial results will be published on
the website immediately following the
convening of the opening board
scheduled for May 20.
