Information
Subject and Summary Statement
Cowlitz County has an extensive public safety radio system as well as numerous mobile and portable
radios, control stations, pagers and associated equipment utilized by the 911 Communications Center,
and other County departments. This specialized equipment requires regular maintenance as well as
troubleshooting in times of inoperability to be performed by factory- trained service technicians. On July 1,
2007, the County entered into a series of maintenance contracts with Day Wireless Systems, which
contracts set out the terms and conditions for Day Wireless Systems to provide maintenance services for
the County's equipment. The contract expired on July 31, 2017.
On August 2, 2017, the County issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) with the expectation of awarding a
new contract for radio maintenance services to be effective September 1, 2017. In the meantime, a
one -month extension of the Day Wireless Systems contract is proposed to ensure continued access to
maintenance services pending review of responses to the County's RFP. All other terms and conditions
of the 2007 agreements will remain the same.
